OVERVIEW:
Welcome to the Almathera 10-CD pack, designed to offer maximum software and
entertainment for minimum cost. We've teamed up with a cluster of the best
CDTV / CD-ROM publishers with special licenced titles, put some of our own
earlier discs forward and included 3 brand new CDs - the Image CD,
containing high-quality pictures, scans and stillshots as well as a demo
'playable' version of Photogenics 1.2, our award-winning graphics package,
the Clip-art and Fonts CD to satisfy those DTP needs, and this disc, the
Networking and Comms CD. All you need to get your Amiga talking over the
Information Superhighway to the outside world and beyond. <And to keep in
touch with your local machines, full ParNet and SerNet support>
THE BOOT SYSTEM, FOR CONSOLE-STYLE AMIGAS:
For CD32 and CDTV users, this is the only bootable CD. All the others are
non-botable <to lower costs to pass onto you - the boot code costs a
royalty on each disk if we'd used it throughout>. If you insert this disc
into your machine and power the system up, and hold down the right mouse
button, or BLUE on the CD32 remote control as the disc boots, you will get
a secondary message screen which waits for you to eject the CD, insert the
CD you with to use, and press RESET on the front of the machine. NOT
TURNNG THE MACHINE OFF, JUST WARM-RESETTING IT. Hands off that power-swich.
CD32 users: If you don't have a mouse, some titles will allow you to patch
the joypad movements to work as mouse movements. After inserting your CD
of choice and pressing RESET, hold down the right mouse button <or BLUE on
the joypad> during the boot sequence, and when title screens appear, a
joypad->mousemovement routine with accelleration <JayMoose> will be
enabled. JayMoose can help with certain titles, especially point-and-click
Workbench discs, although sme packages require a real mouse, and nothing
else will do. <We tried patching everything we could, but we are only
human, and sometimes going at things for 72 hours straight with no sleep
just isn't enough. Sorry for the inconvenience, but mice are cheap and
useful to have, so go and buy one if you've not done so already. You'll
thank me in the long run ;->
CDTV users don't have this problem as their joypad can be switched between
joystick and mouse movement. But most CDTV and A570 owners have floppy
drives, mice and keyboards unless something's gone *terribly* wrong...
CD32 users, watch for the program ToolAlias - I prefer to use a certain
text viewer that offers smooth scroll on all systems, however, this viewer
cannot be exited by mouse alone, so a replacement is required. ToolAlias
will force any use of my viewer-of-choice to shift to the mouse-friendly
version. Double-click on it to start it up, and select 'Use' from the
options. Bliss from then on.
AMIGAS WITH ADDED CD-ROM DRIVES:
In almost every case, the best way to get at the contents of any of the CDs
is to boot your Workbench system as normal, then insert your CD of choice
into the CD drive. Most people with such machines also have either a hard
drive or their own custm boot floppy with the required CD software-drivers
installed on it. <Been there myself>. You may need a few extra bits of
software to get the maximum out of the CDs - these extra bits of code can
be installed by using the 'InstallExtras' utility on this CD. You may
already have some of these bits, it's just not always the case.
MANUALS:
Manuals for the other discs can be found in the 'Manuals' drawer on this CD
- it looks like a ringbinder and is called 'Manuals', so it should be easy
enough to spot ;->

Epilepsy warning: English
-------------------------
Some people are liable to have an epileptic seizure or loss of
consciousness when exposed to flashing lights or certain normal conditions
of everyday life. Such persons could risk a seizure while watching
televised images or while playing certain video games, and this can occur
even if there have been no previous medical problems or experience of
epilepsy. If you or a member of your family has ever shown epileptic
symptoms <seizure or loss of consciousness> when exposed to flickering
lights, consult your doctor before playing. Parents should supervise their
children's use of video games. If you or your children experience any of
the following symptoms - dizziness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitches,
loss of consciousness, disorientation, involuntary movements or convulsions
- discontinue use immediately and consult your doctor.
